Ahead of this year’s Stonor Supercar Sunday, Bremont has partnered with Stonor Park as co-founder Nick English becomes patron of the event and an all-new Bremont Paddock is created, where around 30 of the world’s finest classic sports & supercars will be displayed alongside a number of curios.
Cars earmarked for the Bremont Paddock include a 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spider; a 1955 Triumph TR3; a 1959 Jaguar XK150 DHC; a 1962 Ford Thunderbird; a 1974 Ferrari 365 GT4 BB; a 1966 Gordon Keeble and a 2019 Lister ‘Knobbly’.
Bremont will be providing the trophies for Stonor Supercar Sunday which sees winners awarded in two classes: Historic Supercar and Modern Supercar.
Engineered at our manufacturing facility near Henley-on-Thames, the trophies are made up of two parts; an aluminium base and a top bezel made from 316L Stainless Steel, the same material used to produce the top bezels on Bremont watches.
The top bezel on the trophy has been machined at twice the size of one of our current watch bezels. This part was modelled up by one of our Design engineers and then programmed by a skilled engineer on one of our CNC machines to be machined and hand polished.
The raw billet was placed into the machine and held down by external clamps. Bolt holes were then machined into the Stainless Steel for clamping the top bezel to the base.
The part was then rough machined all over leaving 0.2mm on all faces using various machining cutting methods to help take all the stress out of the material.
It was semi-finished and finished using specially coated carbide cutters which produce a better surface finish on the part. Once fully machined, it was taken off of the machine and cleaned in our ultrasonic cleaner before being hand polished in some areas.
The final stage of the process was engraving the Bremont logo onto the part with our laser engraving machine.
Commenting on the partnership, William Stonor said: “With its commitment to engineering, precision & mechanical craftsmanship, Bremont is the obvious partner to help us celebrate automotive excellence at Stonor Supercar Sunday. The Bremont Paddock will exhibit some extremely rare & fine motor cars, the quality & individuality of which are matched only by the timepieces of this luxury British watchmaker.”
Whilst Stonor Supercar Sunday is a must for any petrol head, the event is also a great day out for all the family.
